Frequently asked questions
Short answers about finding, posting and staying safe on Dabalee.
What is Dabalee?
A free board for rooms and jobs across Australia, in English, Nepali and Hindi. People post rooms for rent and jobs; anyone can browse them, and signed-in people can save listings, message posters and post their own.
Is Dabalee free?
Yes. Browsing, posting, messaging and saved searches are free. Never pay anyone to get a job, and never pay a bond or deposit before you have seen a room and met the host.
Do I need to sign in?
Not to look. You can browse and open any listing without an account. Sign in with Google to save listings, send enquiries, get new matches by email and post. There is no password: signing in creates your account from the name your Google account shares.
How do I post a room or a job?
Sign in, then choose Post. The first time, you add the details shown next to your listings: your name or organisation, a phone number, whether people may message you on WhatsApp, and a short bio. Pick the suburb from the list, add the rent or pay and photos, and publish. Listings run for 30 days and can be renewed with one tap.
Which languages does Dabalee work in?
English, Nepali and Hindi. Your first visit follows your browser's language; the globe menu switches, and your choice is kept, also for the emails we send. Each listing shows the language it is written in, and Browse can filter by it.
What do the badges mean?
Phone verified: the poster confirmed a phone number with an SMS code. Registered business: an active ABN, checked by an admin against the Australian Business Register. ID verified: a photo ID checked by an admin. A badge means that one check passed, nothing more; we do not inspect rooms or workplaces.
How do I stay safe?
Never pay a bond, deposit or holding fee before you have seen the room and met the host, and never pay to get a job. Meet in safe public places. Job pay must meet the national minimum wage; job pages show the pay next to it and say when it is below. Your email address and phone number are never shown on a listing.
How do I report a listing?
Open the listing, sign in and choose "Report this listing", then pick a reason. Three reports hide a listing until an admin decides.
How do saved searches work?
Search on Browse with the filters you want and tap "Save this search". New matches arrive by email every morning at 7 (Sydney time), or straight away by email and notification if you choose. Every email has a one-click link to stop it, and Saved → Saved searches changes how often or deletes it.
How do I install the app?
From your browser. On Android, Chrome and Edge offer "Add to home screen" (also in the footer); on iPhone, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen". Installed, Dabalee opens like an app, keeps recently opened listings readable offline and can show notifications for enquiries and matches.
